Bush-Brown Bust in
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Soon after entering the Soldiers National Cemetery, you will see a memorial to
Abraham Lincoln and his Gettysburg Address. Dedicated on January 22, 1912, it
consists of a low, semi-circular expanse of white marble with this bronze bust
in the middle. William Saunders, who designed the cemetery in 1863, allowed
space for a memorial like this at one end.
Bronze tablets flank the bust by Henry Bush-Brown. The text of the Gettysburg
Address appears on one side and Lincoln's invitation to participate appears
on the other.
