Mrs. Lincoln & Mrs. Keckly: The Remarkable Story of the Friendship Between a First Lady and a Former Slave

In this work, Jennifer Fleischner weaves together the lives of Mary Lincoln and her White House dressmaker/confidante Elizabeth Keckly. She also explains that she chose to spell "Keckly" as Elizabeth herself signed her name, but which is unfamiliar to readers who have read Behind the Scenes, Elizabeth's own story.
