Appropriately, the sculpture was dedicated on November 19, 2009,
the 146th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.
It is one of several sculptural images of the president
you may see in Gettysburg today.
Designed by Ivan Schwartz of New York, the sculpture and the nearby
landscaping is the gift of Robert H. Smith. You will find it outside
the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. The
president's approachable pose beckons to the park's many visitors, who
cannot resist flocking around it and taking pictures.
